A mini book for Berry71Bleu

Hi!! Hope you are all doing well and doing something thats making you happy :) 

I sure am. Scrapping and creating is back at full force right now and its amazing the therapeutic qualities it possesses LOL! Just love my ME time while everyone is usually asleep :)

Now, as you might recall I mentioned last month that the wonderful owner of Berry71Bleu and Zeus and Zoe etsy shops, Marivic Clifton, has sent me a few of her handmade tags to play with as part of my Resident Guest Designer spot on her team. 

So here is a mini book I created with her gorgeous tag on the cover. Marivic's tags always bring out the romantic and shabby style in me. I love them. 

The base of the cover is actually from a past Glitz Designs die cut. I had been saving these and a few others from past collections and thought it would be a great idea to bind them all with my Zutter Bind It All and create a mini book for my sweet niece. 

Here is what the inside looks like. I thought she could use it as an album or ephemera keepsake book etc. of stuff she collects.

Once Upon A .. Sketch challenge reminder!

Its been a while since I posted about my challenge blog Once Upon A..Sketch here on my blog. Due to DT commitments etc. this blog is pretty active but today I wanted to direct you to the June challenge over at Once Upon A.. Sketch and hope you can play along..

Oh yes! We all get some sort of pleasure from something we really shouldn't. What's yours? 

Ideas for journalling: scrapping, time alone, food, going to a concert, a T.V show, time in the garden, playing , Facebook, your iphone, shopping, bags, shoes, computer time, designing, creating etc etc

Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. 

Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

Arts & crafts has been my guilty pleasure since the first time I picked up a crayon.  With time, my love of crafts ventured into drawing, altering items, painting, stamping & finally scrapbooking.  Kay's Kreative Korner was opened in 2009.  It began simply as a way of sharing a few of my handmade items.  I opened my shop with a couple of handstamped cards & a few pre made scrapbook pages.  Within a year, I stopped making cards and decided to sell embellishments--specifically butterflies.  I've always admired the butterfly & what it symbolizes.  Change, transformation, a new start, beginnings...with this concept I started making scrapbook embellishments based on existing butterflies from all around the world.  Today I carry a couple of unique scrapbook embellishments.  In addition to the butterflies I specialize in vines & beaded flowers.  I make each item with much TLC and careful precison.  My greatest reward is seeing how others use my embellishments on thier own projects & pages...

Dream layout for Riddersholm Design!

Hi there everyone.  Today I wanted to show you a layout I created using one of my favourite collections from Riddersholm Design Chantilly Dawn!

For this layout, I used the Chantelle paper as my base, and mounted it onto the Chanelle paper which is a beautiful rich purple and gold, to create a contrast. 

I then used gesso on the Chantelle paper because I wanted a more neutral background. 

I used a Prima marketing mask (Brick Wall and Circle Lattice) , together with some pastel brown ink and thicker gesso to create the patterns on my background. 

I then applied strips of Chantelle and Chanelle paper, together with mesh tape and masking tape to create more texture on my background. 

 The white flowers are Riddersholm Design Ink It flowers . I simply inked them with a soft brown colour.The rest of the flowers are a mixture of older and new Prima Marketing flowers.  

The writing you can see above, is Kaisercraft rub ons which I had difficulty removing from the plastic so decided to just stick them down with the plastic in place. 

I really LOVED altering the chipboard you can see behind the picture. It is called Name Plate Plaque and it is from Twiddleybitz! To alter it, I applied 2 coats of gesso and let it dry. I then used Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze in Indian Summer to coat the whole piece well. Once that dried, I applied Viva Decor Inka Gold in Gold colour to give it a shiny and textured finish. This product is awesome and it is a very thick paste which dried quickly and gives embellishments an instant aged look. I applied it with my finger tips i random places.  Because the Gold was actually a little strong for this layout, once it dried I went over it with a few dabs of a Pastel Brown Chalk Fluid from Prima. 

I used Cheery Lynn's Nautical Wheeler Doily die and Collette paper to create the doily you can see above. 

 Just above you can see in the background I have used a stamp. It is from the Riddersholm Designs shop and it is called Beauty Advert . 

The little love heart is from Prima Marketing Vintage Findings collection. 

To create black splatters quickly, I used Tattered Angels Black Magic mist and splattered it in random places.

Scraps Of Elegance June Kit Reveal!

WOW what a whirlwind the last couple of weeks have been. I tell you, it doesnt take long to remember how the days fly by in a bit of a blur when you have a newborn. Sofia is a GREAT baby, but day turns into night SO quickly and you feel like all you have done is change a million nappies, feed the baby a million more and try to get SOME of your old routines like cooking, cleaning etc back. I mean, things like showers are a novelty now. LOL! They are done in an extremely quick fashion between baby's naps at all sorts of hours, like 1:00am for example LOL! Or eating.. what's that? It quickly becomes afternoon and you remember the last time you ate was dinner the night before. Or sleep.. Ahhhhhh.. how I remember just 4 weeks ago I used to be able to sleep through the night uninterrupted. Feels like a distant memory. A glimpse of a past life LOL!  Its amazing how a human can survive on a just a few hours sleep... 

Of course it is hard. But it is worth EVERY single second, because I would never have it any other way. In fact, I pray that somehow time stops and she would be a baby forever. I detest the 3:00am sleeps in the middle of winter, but as soon as I am up in the morning I anticipate the time I have to do it again at night because its our bonding time. Imagine, in the still of the night, a little baby cries for her feed, her mum picks her up and spends a precious amount of time alone while everyone else is asleep, in the dark. Its our time together , its a time to process exactly what is happening because the days DO go so fast indeed and you forget how long you waited for these moments, how hard you fought for the chance to have another baby in your arms yet once again and what a blessing it is to actually have her. 

Yes, I do love our precious time together because it all goes by so quickly and before you know it they do not need you as much as they used to :( Its amazing seeing you children grown into independent and well adjusted human beings. But ... you do not know just how much your role as a mum has changed till you have a new baby and remember just how much the older kids also needed you so much once upon a time. Its bittersweet. You encourage them to be independent, but.. it hurts to know that as much as they love you and need you still, time changes everything and its a natural part of life that they move on. :( I better not think too far ahead. I should just enjoy the fact they are still little and cherish every single ordinary day with them. 

Well anyway, on that thought let me share with you a layout I created with the June kit from Scraps of Elegance. It is JUST AMAZING. If you are thinking about a kit club check them out as the kits are really well coordinated and the add ons simply extend the life and use of your main kit.

A layout and mini album for Tanya Leigh Designz!

Hey everyone! 

Back today to show you a layout I created for  Tanya Leigh Designz.  You will find Tanya Leigh Designz on Facebook right HERE for now. 

First up here is a layout I created..

"LOVE"

The quote here is from an English poem called "The Nut-brown maid". I only took a snippet of it which reads

"for in my mind, of ALL mankind,

 I LOVE but you alone"

Here I used a number of Tanya Leigh Designz products. 

Here is one of the resin frames. It was aqua in colour and so I painted it white before spraying it with Glimmer Mist. 

 Just above you can see another resin frame and also the word rings , month circles, kraft and XOX squares. 

Here I used one of the word rings. 

 I  also decided to create a mini  album for my girls to record their LOVE for fashion!!

 On the cover of this album I have used word rings, month circles and the black resin. 

 Just above you can see the alphabet strips from Tanya Leigh Designz

 Some more word rings..
